One Virus, So Many Diseases: What Your Genes Mean - Live
Webinar DescriptionEpstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous pathogen, yet its clinical outcomes vary drastically between individuals. While most infections remain asymptomatic, some lead to severe, life-threatening lymphoproliferative disorders. This seminar explores the mechanisms EBV uses to evade the host immune system and drive lymphomagenesis. Through a series of diverse clinical case studies, we will analyze the complex pathology of EBV-associated diseases and examine the underlying biology. Finally, the discussion will pivot to current research efforts aimed at identifying novel, inherited genetic mutations that disrupt the host immune response and that may predispose specific individuals to severe EBV-related pathologies.
