Oncology for Residents and Students

Welcome to the University of North Carolina School of Medicine's video repository for Oncology Residency courses. The purpose of this website is to provide oncology curriculum for medicine residents. Medical students, fellows, nurses and faculty can also participate in the website, although the material is aimed at the internal medicine learner.

In the United States, cancer is the second most common cause of death after heart disease. With a yearly incidence of approximately 500/100,000 and approximately 15,000,000 cancer survivors, every internist is going to see a patient with cancer, even if he/she is not an oncologist. High-quality care involves coordination and team building between the primary team and the oncology team throughout the patient’s cancer condition. Subspecialty residents in fields other than oncology, will continue to see these patients, through diagnostic testing, and assisting with management of treatment side effects.

These courses are a critical addition to the learning platform for medicine residents. Medicine residency is the time to build knowledge that that is the foundation the career in the field. The video library permits the learner to access the material at quiet times and during point of care.
