Linda Burhansstipanov, MSPH, DRPH, OPN-CG provides an overview of how the field of patient navigation has evolved since its inception in the late 1980s / early 1990s. It includes a brief overview of the nationally recommended metrics and CMS codes for reimbursement of navigation services. It also identifies what is missing in the codes to fully address the cancer continuum.
