H. Pylori Testing and Treatment for Gastric Cancer Prevention
Katherine Garman, MD, and Meira Epplein, PhD, will provide information on gastric cancer and important risk factors such as H. pylori infection. We will describe some of the racial disparities associated with gastric cancer in the US, highlighting those that are relevant for North Carolina. We will also discuss H. pylori as a modifiable risk factor and we will review current guidelines on H. pylori testing, treatment, eradication testing, and the growing problem of antibiotic resistance.

Next Generation Cancer Care Navigation
William Wood, MD, MPH will review ways to expand traditional clinic-based cancer navigation to population-based cancer navigation using a central navigation approach. We will discuss how this approach can foster equity in care delivery and outcomes, while incorporating new initiatives that promote quality improvement. We will also talk about how this work fits into the current national environment that surrounds cancer navigation, including the recent development of a learning community and of new proposed billing codes that support the delivery of navigation services.
