Immunotherapy has made tremendous progress as cancer-directed therapy has evolved, particularly in the field of T cell-engaging therapies. Common and serious side effects of these types of therapies include Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS) and Immune Effector Cell-Associated Neurotoxicity Syndrome (ICANS). Join us as Bejal Kikani, MSN, FNP-BC, WHNP-BC, discusses the recognition, grading, and treatment of these toxicities.

Embracing Indigenous Wisdom in Evidence Based Cancer Prevention: A Path of Collaboration, Respect, and Insight on Duke’s Voyage” is a presentation that explores the partnership between modern scientific research and indigenous wisdom in the pursuit of effective cancer prevention strategies. It underscores the humility in learning from indigenous knowledge, and the discovery of insights that can enhance evidence-based approaches to cancer prevention.

This multidisciplinary Panel Presentation will describe the importance of CT-based lung cancer screening, indications and criteria for screening, the optimal structure and requirements of a screening program, and the current state of screening at UNC. We will present practical information relevant to providers who may order screening CT and/or may discuss screening with patients.

William Wood, MD, MPH will review ways to expand traditional clinic-based cancer navigation to population-based cancer navigation using a central navigation approach. We will discuss how this approach can foster equity in care delivery and outcomes, while incorporating new initiatives that promote quality improvement. We will also talk about how this work fits into the current national environment that surrounds cancer navigation, including the recent development of a learning community and of new proposed billing codes that support the delivery of navigation services.
