Webinar Description

Lacey Williams, MD, will provide a concise, practice-focused overview of recent advances in the management of acute leukemias, with emphasis on how emerging data are reshaping real-world treatment decisions. She will highlight the expanding role of targeted and immune-based therapies. Dr. Williams will also review recent clinical trial results and address special populations including older adults and patients with adverse-risk biology.

Learning Objectives

  • Interpret recent clinical trial data to inform evidence-based treatment selection for patients with acute leukemias across risk groups and disease subtypes.
  • Apply molecular and cytogenetic risk stratification to guide therapeutic decisions, including the use of targeted agents, lower-intensity regimens, and consolidation strategies.
  • Identify and manage key clinical challenges in AML and ALL, including treatment-related toxicities, measurable residual disease assessment, relapse mechanisms, and transitions between lines of therapy.

Cancer Treatment in North Carolina: Research to Practice (formerly Medical and Surgical Oncology) webinars cover the spectrum of anti-cancer therapy, with a focus on recent research developments, both locally and at large, and what’s ready for regular practice. Perspectives from medical oncology, radiation oncology, and surgery will be included.

This series incorporates an understanding of practice dynamics and concerns throughout the state of North Carolina, and the availability of clinical trials and subspecialty expertise to inform care.
