Webinar Description

Portia Nleya, MD, MPH, will review evidence-based recommendations, appropriate screening modalities, and age- and risk-based considerations, with an emphasis on applying guidelines in everyday clinical practice. Attendees will gain confidence in identifying patients who should be screened, recognizing high-risk populations, and navigating common screening challenges to support early detection and improved patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe current evidence-based screening recommendations for common cancers encountered in primary care, including colorectal, breast, cervical, lung, and prostate cancers.
  • Apply age-, sex-, and risk-based criteria to identify patients who are appropriate candidates for routine and high-risk cancer screening.
  • Differentiate cancers with recommended population screening from those where routine screening is not advised and explain the rationale behind these recommendations.
  • Integrate shared decision-making and patient counseling strategies to address benefits, risks, and limitations of cancer screening in everyday clinical practice.
