Course Description

American Indian and Alaska Native communities in California face significant cancerrelated disparities. Claradina Soto, PhD, MPH will presents on key prevention and care challenges and showcase community-engaged research efforts with Native youth, families, health care providers, and Tribal and urban Indian health organizations to inform equitable cancer control practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Summarize key cancer health disparities affecting American Indian and Alaska Native populations in California, including major prevention and care challenges.
  • Describe community-engaged research strategies used to address cancer prevention and control with American Indian and Alaska Native communities, including partnerships with Native youth, parents, health care providers, and Tribal and urban Indian health organizations.
  • Identify lessons and implications for cancer control practice.
