Karen Kimel-Scott, MD describes guidelines for cervical cancer screening and the rationale for risk-based screening, including epidemiology and how to manage results

Learning Objectives

  • Define trauma/toxic stress/adversity and the mechanisms by which it influences health
  • Review how trauma can occur from interpersonal as well as structural 'social contributors to health' adversity exposures
  • Discuss clinical approaches to assist others with trauma exposure to build resilience and heal with spcific attention to gynecologic care
  • Understand that trauma affects providers and learn strategies for self and colleague care and resilience building

Learning Outcome

  • Participants will score 80% or higher on the post activity assessment, demonstrating understanding of trauma-informed care in cervical cancer screening.
