Caring for the Patient with a GI Cancer – SPOC
Discussion of gastrointestinal cancers including risk factors, signs and symptoms, treatment and survival. Discussion will also include information pancreatic cancer and the exploration of the recent and significant increase in liver cancer. Side effects of treatment will be discussed including the emotional impact and quality of life issues.
Target Audience
These courses are designed for students enrolled in health sciences programs and the community colleges across the state of North Carolina.
Learning Objectives
Describe risk factors, signs and symptoms, and treatments used in pancreatic cancer.
Discuss increase in liver cancer, including risk factors, signs and symptoms, and treatments.
Describe impact of GI malignancies on patients and families (including, but not limited to, physical, nutritional, and quality of life).
