This lecture will introduce the concept of breast cancer health disparities. We will explore risk factors associated with breast cancer and discuss ways that breast cancer disparities are being addressed through research, community outreach, and diversifying the healthcare field.

Michael Galgano, MD, FAANS, will focus on differentiating the various types of spinal tumors, ranging from metastases, to primary vertebral column tumors, and intradural spinal cord tumors. He will discus the contributions of co-morbidities and frailty on the management of patients with spinal tumors. He will also aim to give the audience a brief exposure to the surgical management of spinal oncology, and what is entailed to execute robust local control.

The global cancer burden is increasing, and several factors contribute to this trend in low- and middle-income countries. These factors include the aging population, advancements in treatment and detection, improved treatment options, lifestyle and environmental factors, and urbanization. This seminar will provide examples of global cancer health work with a focus on capacity building of the careforce/workforce to meet the needs of individuals, families, and communities.
